Proper casual Sunday Gentlemen Apparel. The weather was been sooooooo gooooood lately! This is what life needed. Winter is so fucking cold and Summer is so fucking hot, but Spring is always great. It’s warm enough yet still cool, you have so many options in life and in what you can wear!
I’ve been so consumed with trying to figure out my trip to London in August that I’ve been doing nothing but staying home, eating cheap (no weekly sushi gorge-fests), and missing out on all of the great sample sales. There’s been some good ones too! I just got really excited because I found a fairly reasonable flight on Virgin Atlantic, until I realized the price was in GBP and not USD. FML. Eternally broke until September when I can yet again split all my bills in half! Until then I’ll continue to be hood rich in Westwood Brogues and Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme hats.
Fedoras really have such a bad rap – nowadays they are often associated with douche bags and fashion disasters like Britney Spears. Barf, I just thought about all of those white girls that wear them to the beach in the summer time! Who told you that looks nice?! So many people try to wear fedoras and end up just looking like assholes. It’s true! There’s some unmeasurable balance one must find when attempting to wear such a classic hat, I can’t even explain what that is, but I feel like the more you think about it the more you’ll understand. When in doubt, draw upon the influence of the classic gentlemen of yesteryear, like Frank Sinatra for example. You can never go wrong with a classic.
In love. I’ve always had a soft spot/boner for a great grandpa cardigan. This one is from the Target x Neiman Marcus Collection, which went on sale to 60% off after Christmas. Yes, the entire collection. Yes, after I paid full price for the Thom Browne Blazer. Oh well! I still love that blazer and I have the feeling if I hadn’t bought it when I did that all the size smalls would’ve been gone and that I just got really lucky with this cardigan being in my size. You really can never have enough cardigans. They are perfect! Easy to shove into a bag, comfortable and so much more fashionable than your average Wal-Mart hoodie. I think I spent so many years relying on hoodies that I simply can’t wear one unless it has something special to it. No one loves a basic bitch.
This polo, D by D by D.KANG…I had never heard of this label but I checked out the site and really like it. It’s a Korean based label and apparently the designer graduated from Parson’s in NYC…that’s about all I know. I found this on a trip to Century21 and have never seen this label anywhere else before or since, which is a shame because the prices are fairly moderate and the designs are sleek with a little bit of edge and go great with about everything. I’ve been on a weird camoflauge kick lately, it happens once about every 3 years and I start regretting getting rid of my old camo jackets from the thrift store. Another reason to never get rid of anything, just get a bigger apartment instead!
So the Century21 downtown remodeled and it might be one of the best things to happen ever. When I first moved to New York I loved pushing bitches out of my way to get my hand son some designer goods and super discounted prices, but after a while it’s like, ew, I’d much rather pay full price and not have to deal with the pushy bargain hunter ordeal. The renovation made my life so much easier – there’s tills on every floors with actual lines, the menswear department expanded, with all the new space the product isn’t jam packs on the rails. Overcrowded rails have got to be the worst. You go to see something, it stays stuck between a million clothes, you pull it out, it’s usually ripped beyond repair because this is what everyone has been doing for the past week. Ohhhh, its the worst.
I hadn’t been to Dangerfield’s comedy club in forever, so I took my mom when she was in town. I do love a beer and some stand up and it’s even better when I’m doing it in real life and not in front of my television.
On another note, I have a new ladies pillbox hat up for sale on FARFETCH! Classic wool cap adorned with found object charms! This is what pays for my addictions (westwood, sushi, netflix), so someone should really buy her (yes, everything I make is usually a her.). Go and check it out and find tons of other goodies over at FARFETCH!
